| Caroline Cooley Browne Selected Exhibitions 2011 Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, 5 Masters, Group Show Ms Browne has been an active member of the Bainbridge Island Art Community. She has served on the steering committee for the BIAHC “Bainbridge In Bloom”, working with the art fair. She was a regular artist in the Bainbridge island Studio tour from 1993 to 2000, was a member of the steering committee, and the poster artist for the 2000 Studio tour. Her work was featured in Exhibition Magazine in 1998 and later worked as the art editor for that same magazine from 1999 – 2002, then from 2004 -2009. Caroline was featured on the cover and the color inset for the 2003 issue. In 1990, and 19992, Caroline designed a special set for the Bainbridge Dance Center. Awards include: Second Place: 2 dimensional art, CVG show, 2008, First Place award, Tacoma Art Museum, 1980, Cash Award, Big Sky biennial, 1979; Ford Foundation Scholarship, 1979, and the Fashion Group Scholarship, 1977. Education: B.A. 1974, M.F.A. University of Washington, Fiber Art MS Browne served as a teaching assistant for the University of Washington in fiber Art and Materials in 1979. She has been employed in interior and textile design, developed and still teaches a new rag weaving technique, and has been the buyer for a specialty fabric store. Caroline has been a hospice volunteer in her community and now serves on the board of the Country Montessori School. She is the proud mother of two daughters. Her work is included in collections of the City of Seattle, Providence Hospital, Anchorage Alaska, Westin Hotels, Reed College, Portland Oregon, Bainbridge Dance Center, and many private collections. |
